Berkeley Castle Gardens

The eight acres of gardens have been developed by successive generations of the Berkeley family and the castle walls have been softened with borders and flowers.

In the Victorian period the terrace was planted by the eminent designer Gertrude Jekyll and the garden has been filled with scented plants, especially roses.

Other interesting features include a Lily pond created from a former swimming pool, a Great Lawn containing two pines thought to be from cones found from the Battle of Culloden, a productive walled garden, and imaginative rock garden.

Over 850 years one family have built a solid legacy. We want to invite you to become immersed in it, to enjoy the sumptuous gardens and explore the hidden secrets of the castle itself.
