Packington Hall Gardens

Set in magnificent Capability Brown designed landscape, the gardens of Packington Hall were laid out from 1751. They include varied features from a decorative Japanese bridge (dating to 1765) to a Serpentine Lake, impressive and ancient trees, to mixed terrace borders. Whilst these elements are conserved and well managed, the owners have been keen to enhance and evolve their garden. More recent additions include a well thought through Millenium Rose Garden and a newly restored walled garden.

Join us amongst the impressive Cedars of Lebanon and the grand Wellingtonias, where our host, Lady Guernsey, will immerse you in the history, family, garden and development of this traditional country estate.

We at Cotswold Garden Tours warmly welcome you to become a small part of Packington Hall’s history.

Maxstoke Castle Gardens

The splendid 14th-century castle has been owned by the Fetherston-Dilke family for the last 400 years. The castle is moated and encompassed by a 5ft wall.

Richly planted borders containing Delphiniums, Salvias, Exochorda, Penstemons, and Buddleia adorn the courtyard garden. In shaded areas, Alchemilla mollis and Pachysandra have been used as effective groundcovers. There’s an extensive collection of fragrant roses, Deutzias and Philadelphus.

Other features include a delightful parterre, walled kitchen garden, and swimming pool area replete with a large Foxglove tree.

The present owners continue to enhance and develop the garden.

Here at Cotswold Garden Tours we warmly welcome you to Maxstoke Castle. Edwina Fetherston-Dilke thoroughly looks forward to showing you her historic home and garden and we very much look forward to seeing you soon.
