Painswick Rococo Gardens

Created in the 1740s as a fanciful pleasure garden by wealthy landowner Benjamin Hyett, Painswick Rococo Garden is the country’s last remaining Rococo garden.

Sadly it soon became overgrown and completely lost and forgotten about. It was only in the early 1980s that historians discovered a painting of the house and garden that they realized it was there! After a major restoration project it was brought back to its former glory and opened to the public in 1988.

These beautiful Georgian gardens feature a mesmerizing landscape containing deceptive vistas, pools, formal vegetable gardens, serpentine paths, follies and sculpture.

You are cordially invited to be transported back to a lost time of entertainment, leisure, fantasy and pleasure. Cotswold Garden Tours will unlock this hidden garden.
