Rodmarton Manor Gardens

The grand house and gardens were designed by Ernest Barnsley, a follower of William Morris, from 1909 to 1929. The garden layout survives to this day.

Designed as  series of outdoor garden rooms, each has a unique and different character and feel. The range of plants used is equally diverse. Cleverly laid out vistas and views of the surrounding countryside nicely enhance the atmosphere.

Garden features include a rock garden, alpines in troughs, formal lawns, large kitchen gardens, white borders, pavilion, pond and the impressive herbaceous borders. Hedging neatly compartmentalizes each area and includes some humorous topiary. Containers full of interesting planting displays pepper the garden.

The fourth and fifth generations of the Biddulph family still call Rodmarton home and are constantly improving and developing the borders and planting styles.

We, Cotswold Garden Tours, welcome you to join us for an informative tour of these lovely gardens, enjoy a hearty lunch and immerse yourselves in an historic and well laid out garden with a calming atmosphere.
